National Transport Awards 2019

Technology behind the TravelMaster Download App shortlisted for ‘Excellence in Technology’ award

25 Oct 2019

TravelMaster’s Director & General Manager, Matt Smallwood, will be joining our technology supplier Ecebs at the National Transport Awards in London on the 31st October following the shortlisting of their Mobile Ticketing Solution in the ‘Excellence in Technology’ category.

The Mobile Ticketing Solution is the technology behind the TravelMaster Download App and it has been core to the delivery of online sales for TravelMaster ticketing products. The App was initially released for Android devices in April 2019 and then on iPhones in September 2019. With the latter TravelMaster became one of the first commercial organisations giving passengers the ability to load multi-operator smart ticketing through iOS devices.

The deployment of this system has fundamentally changed the way passengers can purchase and fulfil their TravelMaster tickets. With our Web Retail System and the TravelMaster Download App passengers can now buy great value multi-operator tickets online in seconds and load them to a smartcard through 95%+ of smart phones instantly, all instead of having to visit a physical point of sale or purchase it when they board.

Matt said: “Ecebs are a leader in their field, providing systems to the Rail Delivery Group and a number of similar operators and schemes. Their recent acquisition by Visa – an instantly recognised household name – alongside this shortlisting shows that we absolutely made the right decision in selecting them as our key technology partner. I’m looking forward to the next 4+ years as we continue to work with them to deliver and enhance our offer for the region’s passengers.”
