TRAVELMASTER SHORTLISTED FOR GLOBAL TRANSPORT TICKETING AWARD
06 Dec 2019
TravelMaster has been shortlisted in the 2020 Digital Champion category at the Global Transport Ticketing Awards held at the Science Museum in London on the 28th January 2020.
The Transport Ticketing Awards are prestigious awards celebrating the transport ticketing industry and nominations are received from across the world. To be shortlisted is a huge achievement for the company and for the region in general and shows that we remain at the forefront of delivering innovative systems within transport ticketing.
We have been shortlisted for our extensive eCommerce programme which has seen the rapid deployment of online sales, download apps and supporting infrastructure during 2019. These systems, introduced in April, have proved very popular with passengers and have provided a far more convenient way to purchase unlimited travel in South Yorkshire.
Matt Smallwood, Director & General Manager of TravelMaster said, “To be shortlisted is a great achievement and really recognises the significant effort we’ve put into making it easier for passengers to purchase TravelMaster products this year. We have put digital systems, mobile devices and web sales, at the core of our retail offer and the level of uptake has been phenomenal.
From launching in April, to being the first place in the world issuing commercial smart tickets via iOS devices, an ever growing number of customers are using our eCommerce system to access their travel and this will only increase as systems are enhanced next year.”
Our eCommerce system enables customers to purchase their tickets online and load them to a smartcard through iPhone and Android devices in seconds or by collecting them when they board First or Stagecoach services. With it we aim to reduce the time spent on board issuing tickets and contribute to quicker boarding times and reduced delays whilst giving passengers the freedom to purchase a ticket when it suits them.
This is the second time TravelMaster has been shortlisted at these prestigious awards – with the company being shortlisted for Best Smart Ticketing Programme at the 2017 awards.
About the Digital Champion Category:
“The category recognises a digital champion who has gone over and above to revolutionise passengers’ digital journeys. Whether through app or website, who has changed how customers are able to receive travel information, plan their journey end-to-end and pay by flexible means? This award is open to individual organisations or partnerships that are responsible for developing or operating a service to make payment no longer a chore.”
