TravelMaster Shortlisted For ‘Best Smart Ticketing Programme’

SY TravelMaster Update

The annual Transport Ticketing Global Awards recognises and celebrates the organisations which have worked tirelessly to build, establish and deploy successful smart ticketing programmes across Europe. TravelMaster has been shortlisted for the prestigious ‘Best Smart Ticketing Programme’ category in the 2018 awards.

Over the past four years TravelMaster has repeatedly been at the forefront in delivering customer focussed, best-value and flexible multi-modal and multi-operator tickets for transport users locally. We’re proud to say that we now have one of the most advanced smart enabled ranges in the UK outside of London.

This shortlisting recognises the great collaborative achievements and progress that TravelMaster, and all TravelMaster’s development and delivery partners, have made in migrating our paper products to smart tickets for South Yorkshire’s passengers.

Here are just a few stats that contributed to our nomination and shortlisting:

We currently record over 1.3Million smart journeys a month.

Over the past 12 months our customers have purchased 7 million days of travel, representing over 80% of our total Revenue, through products loaded to smart cards.

100% of our commercial range (day, 7 Day, 28 Day & Annual Products) can now be purchased as a smart product.

Matt Smallwood, General Manager of TravelMaster, said: “To be shortlisted alongside other excellent, and international, programmes really goes to show how much progress we have made in South Yorkshire for our customers. It’s great to see our achievements, none of which would have been possible without the commitment and dedication of all partners, operators, suppliers, frontline staff, drivers and conductors, represented on a global platform.”

The winner of the award will be announced in London on the 23rd January 2018 where TravelMaster will face competition from other excellent programmes delivered by: ‘Abellio ScotRail’, ‘SilverRail’, ‘DBUS-Compañía del Tranvía de San Sebastián’ , ‘Skånetrafiken’ , ‘Nacion Servicios’, ‘National Express West Midlands & Masabi’ and ‘Stagecoach Group and Vix Technology’.
